At Blue Sky, we have always believed that great financial planning begins with great people.
Technical expertise matters. Experience matters. Qualifications matter. But just as important is character. We look for people who are naturally curious, genuinely empathetic and who care deeply about helping clients make better decisions to build a life they love.
That’s why we’re delighted to welcome Joe Singer FPFS to the Blue Sky team.
Joe joins us as a Chartered Financial Planner with almost 15 years’ experience in financial planning, bringing an impressive breadth of technical knowledge alongside a thoughtful, people-first approach that fits naturally with the way we work.
Our CEO, Gary Neild says: “When we became employee-owned, we made a conscious decision that every person who joins Blue Sky should make the business stronger for the next twenty years, not just the next two. Joe has the technical ability, the integrity and the ambition we’re looking for, but more importantly, he genuinely cares about helping people make better decisions. That’s exactly the kind of Financial Planner our clients deserve, and we’re delighted he’s chosen to build his future with us. I know our clients are going to be in very safe hands.”
Finding the right career… almost by accident
Interestingly, financial planning wasn’t always the plan for Joe. He first discovered the profession at a school careers fair. Growing up with a father in construction and a mother working in accountancy, he hadn’t imagined a career in financial advice. But once he understood the role, he quickly realised it offered something unique: the opportunity to combine technical expertise with genuinely changing people’s lives.
That decision has shaped the last 15 years.
Driven by a genuine love of learning, Joe achieved his Diploma at just 21 years old before becoming Chartered only a few years later. In 2023, he reached one of the profession’s highest milestones by becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FPFS), recognising years of continued professional development and commitment to the highest standards of advice.
For Joe, though, qualifications have never been the destination. They’ve simply been the foundation that allows him to give clients the very best advice possible.
Learning from some of the best
Joe happily says he has worked with some exceptional businesses and advisers throughout his career, gaining experience across every stage of financial planning.
During his time with Saltus, he advised high and ultra-high net worth clients, managing relationships across a client portfolio of around £50 million. The technical complexity of that work, together with the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and respected mentors, helped shape both his expertise and his approach to client care.
More recently, Joe also served on the Wealth Proposition Council, helping represent the interests of more than 800 wealth firms across the Openwork Partnership. It provided an opportunity to contribute not only to individual client outcomes, but to the wider evolution of financial planning itself.
Why Blue Sky?
When asked why he chose Blue Sky, Joe doesn’t hesitate. It wasn’t simply the opportunity to join another successful financial planning firm. It was the reputation.
Introduced to Blue Sky through his sister who works for a well-respected solicitors, Joe soon came to know Gary Neild and the business he has built over more than two decades. The firm’s reputation for delivering thoughtful, bespoke financial planning, combined with its genuinely caring culture, stood out immediately.
Employee ownership was another significant factor in Joe’s decision, he said: “knowing everyone has a genuine stake in the future of the business creates a very different culture. There’s a shared commitment to continually improving what we do, both for each other and for our clients.”
The opportunity to continue developing alongside Gary and the wider team, while also contributing to Blue Sky’s long-term future, made the decision an easy one.
Looking forward
Although still in the early stages of his Blue Sky journey, Joe has already been struck by how welcoming the team has been and, perhaps more importantly, how closely the firm’s culture matches the reputation that first attracted him.
Sitting in on client meetings has reinforced everything he hoped it would. “There is a genuine focus on understanding what clients want from life before talking about products or investments,” he explains. “That’s exactly how I believe financial planning should work.”
As he begins building relationships with his own clients here, Joe is looking forward to helping individuals and families navigate life’s biggest financial decisions with confidence. Because, ultimately, great financial planning isn’t about spreadsheets or investment performance alone. It’s about understanding people’s ambitions, earning their trust and helping them create the future they want.
We’re delighted Joe has chosen to build that future with Blue Sky.
