We are just days into the New Year, but memories of the festivities are fading fast. You may or may not have made resolutions for this year, but one thing is for sure in life, change is a constant.
Change for some can be daunting, but managed properly, often it can be the start of something truly amazing.
Wherever possible, here at Blue Sky, we encourage everyone to take control of their future. There are elements we just cannot control and so the focus should be on what we can control.
Money matters
Money doesn’t make you happy, but it provides more choices for you and your family, and for those around you, too. Yet even those who are independently wealthy can still be prone to self-doubt and worry. The news flow we are bombarded with isn’t exactly joyous, is it? It’s easy to focus on negativity.
Our relationship with money can be complicated, sometimes negative, often laced with deep-rooted biases and fears – formulated by our upbringing and our experiences. Sadly, for some, inertia rules and the opportunity to take proactive action slips through our fingers.
Thinking ahead
We often ask clients what their 90-year-old self will say about money. The answers are always intriguing. Then we go one better and ask our 90-year-old clients what they would say now to the younger generation. So often, the essence is to “never turn down opportunities, grab them with both hands.”
Planning for now and then
This is one of the main reasons why everyone needs a financial plan. It’s important to ensure, amongst other things, that we make the most of life and everything it has to offer. Financial Planning is personal. Done properly, it provides freedom and peace of mind, allowing us all to enjoy our money whilst we have good health.
It takes courage and conviction to take the leap and share one’s inner thoughts with a third party, though. Entrusting someone with your money is a step that should never be underestimated. Yet, this is exactly what is required to help you live a more fulfilling life. A positive relationship with money is akin to throwing off the shackles.
Many people are worrying, searching, and considering deeply what the future holds. Often, they are unable to answer the question, “How much money is enough?” Spending too much time on negative thoughts, searching for answers in the wrong places, and never really finding the solutions that work for them.
We see this with new clients. It is this that prompted us to create a short film, which I would like to share with you here. In many ways, it’s a metaphor for life and has already been used by some organisations when training their teams.
I hope you enjoy the production. If you feel this blog and the film could help anyone close to you, please share. Perhaps also ask them if they wish to sign up to our regular communications on our website… our communications cut through the noise, offering our readers knowledge and choice.
Wishing you a happy and fulfilling 2026.
Best wishes,
Gary
