Blue Sky Investment Market Update
Catch the Sustainability Wave
On Wednesday 3rd June at 10.30, we will be delivering a webinar on Sustainability with the enthusiastic and highly regarded Phoebe Stone, from LGT Vestra.
In the 1st quarter of 2020, $45.6 bn was invested into Global Sustainable funds as investors committed to help protecting the environment. This compares favourably with withdrawals of $384.7bn for the overall fund space, over the same period.
Furthermore, better run companies are showing they are mindful about their impact on the environment and the role they play in society. We think this will become even more marked as we transition out of this crisis, and those companies who behave responsibly will attract investment much faster than those who don’t.
Once again, we invite you, your family and friends to this webinar. Please register your interest and we will send you the link in due course.
Don’t miss the opportunity for a glimpse into the future.
Was there anything else going on in the world over the weekend?
A certain Mr Cummings dominated the headlines, so much so that apparently nothing else was going on in the world!
Well, as you would expect on the world stage, the Cummings debacle is a sideshow and despite the friction between Hong Kong, China and the US, positivity is in the air. Global investment markets have responded with enthusiasm to the easing of the coronavirus restrictions. There appears to be a real sense of optimism in anticipation of a strong global economic recovery.
The Euro Stoxx index gained by 2.3% yesterday whilst we were closed for the Bank Holiday. It was helped by Germany’s proposed bailout for Lufthansa which resulted in their shares rising by 7.5%. Furthermore, Macron is likely to provide financial support for France’s car industry. It is thought that a bailout could include conditions around building cleaner cars and expanding their commitment to electric vehicles.
We expect Governments around the world to follow suit, with financial bailouts being conditional concerning how companies commit to improving their environmental focus. There is no doubt in my mind that this is an opportunity to create structural changes around reduced emissions and the development of clean technologies.
Tune in on the 3rd of June at 10.30am to hear Phoebe’s take on the exiting opportunities that lie ahead.
Enjoy the lovely weather!
Best wishes
