The primary objective of the Dorset Business Awards is to promote the talent, skills and services of Dorset businesses to a local and national audience. The awards are the most prestigious awards programme on the south coast and enables businesses of all sizes and sectors to showcase their business achievements. Organised by the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this annual event aims to celebrate the Dorset business community and support the local economy.
Gary Neild, our Founder and Managing Director, is passionate about education and in particular, financial education for youngsters. Gary was a school teacher before changing careers over 25 years ago and really holds education close to his heart. He is a founding sponsor of the Young Chamber in Dorset and over the last year has been working hard with Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne to inspire, engage and teach their students about money.
The team at Blue Sky believe that young people are the future. It is important to invest in them, nurture them and encourage them to achieve their best. Not everyone is suited to academia but everyone has talent. It’s important that a pathway is created between business and education so we can increase the likelihood of young people finding a vocation that best fits their skill set.
Businesses are in a privileged position to be able to inspire young people to believe in themselves and not let fear or inertia hold them back. A business that is passionate about working with schools and colleges can make a huge difference to students, enabling them to fulfill their potential.
Gary said “The DBA’s are a great initiative and we are proud to offer our support. We are passionate about bringing financial education to the fore and encouraging our business community to engage with younger people. Financial education is just one element of how we can help students to positively prepare for adult life but we believe that the business community can make a real difference by inspiring, nurturing and imparting knowledge.”
It will be great to engage with like-minded people who are committed to making a difference to young people. We want to hear and feel their passion, share in their positive experiences and be uplifted by the ways in which they are making a difference.
